Husband, Father, Fellow Country Man, Devout Catholic, Thespian and Servant of this Great Nation and of the Citizens of Lago Vista passed on January 31, 2009
Whereas, the City of Lago Vista is honored to have been the home and final resting place of a true man of the people to be admired, honored and remembered this day;
Whereas, Patrick J. (Paddy) Molloy, should be remembered as a symbol of what we hold dear as Americans and serve as a continuing reminder of what it is to be an American hero;
Whereas, over the last three (3) years, the Lago Vista City Council and Staff has known Pat as Judge Molloy but he was much more to this community than a fair and even handed judge of the Municipal Court, he was a man of deep conviction to his family, his religion , his country and this City;
Whereas, the public service of this modest, humble man was given generously to this country the form of service in the United States Marine Corp, twenty-eight (28) years of dedicated service with the New York City Police Department during which he was awarded the Medal of Valor for the courageous rescue of a fire victim, nine (9) years of involvement with the Lago Vista Players Community Theatre and continued to the last day of his life as a volunteer public servant in our community
Whereas, the sincerity, thoughtfulness and cheerful manners displayed by Pat brought joy and happiness to everyone who was privileged to know him.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lago Vista, at a duly called meeting of the elected officials and citizens who worked with and admired Pat, want to extend our heartfelt thank you to his family for honoring us with a husband and father we simply called judge. So that his public service, dedication and unflinching sacrifice will be remembered, honored and hopefully emulated by all that knew him and henceforth know of him, it is with great pride, the City Council does hereby proclaim March 17, 2009, as:
“Judge Pat Molloy Day”
in the City of Lago Vista, Texas and encourages its citizens to honor and celebrate the life and memory of Pat Molloy for years to come. Through this proclamation, to be hung in the halls of the City Hall, let us encourage future City Councils to remember that public service is the greatest service we can give our family, our country and our community.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I witness my hand and the Seal of the City of Lago Vista, Texas, with heavy heart at our loss of a magnificent servant of the people ask all who read this proclamation honor Judge Pat Molloy as he would have wanted honored by thanking those that serve the citizens of this country as the founding fathers believed would be a continuing call to public service from generation to generation.
